El Alamein 70th Anniversary Commemoration. This tour is a representative commemoration for the 76,000 New Zealanders who served in North Africa between 1 June 1940 and 13 May 1943. The international Commemoration Service will be held on 20 Oct. A NZ National Commemoration will be held on 19 Oct. Veterans' Affairs NZ (VANZ) sourced elegible NZ veterans who served in the NZ Armed Forces in North Africa. The Government and people of NZ will be represented at the commemorations by the Minister of Defence, Hon. Dr jonathon Coleman. CDF will be represented at the commemorations by MAJGEN Tim keating, MNZM, Chief of Army (CA). The official delegation also includes: VANZ/NZDF health, care and administrative support personnel. An NZDF Maori Culture Group, musicians, and personnel drawn from Op Farad, will undertake duties in support of the commemoration.
